Buy This Site
If you're a serious comic book dealer then you should own this site, not me. It'll make your life a lot easier.
Once you read About This Site you'll realize that I'm a web developer, not a comic book dealer.
I've gone to a lot of trouble and I've spent a lot of time and effort developing this web site just so that I could sell my private comic book collection.
- I unbagged each comic book.
- Scanned the front cover of the comic book.
- Scanned the back cover of the comic book.
- Re-sized the front cover image of the comic book into two different sized images.
- Re-sized the back cover image of the comic book into one more image.
- Uploaded those three images to my web site.
- Typed in all of the relavent information about the comic book.
- Looked up the value of the comic book and decided what I would be willing to sell if for.
Now, the content management software tool I use to do most of this work, called Article Manager, makes it very easy to get all of this done as quickly and effortlessly as possible.
But once I sell my one copy of a comic book, it's gone forever and all the trouble and effort I went to in order to get it on this site is of no more value. I can't sell another of the same comic book because I don't have one.
And I'm not going to get one either, because I've stopped collecting comic books all together.
But, if I were a comic book dealer, like you, I'd always have lots of copies of a comic book to sell. And I'd always be buying more. So once I invested the up-front cost of getting a particular comic book onto my site, that cost would be spread out over multiple copies of that issue forever.
Sound good?
Why did I do this then if it's not worth it to me?
I love developing web sites and this one was a great project for me. I got to be totally creative and make something just for myself. I let my creative juices flow and had quite a great time bringing this together.
I have to say, I think I did a great job.
I've designed the look-and-feel of this site to appeal to comic book collector's. It's got four-color panels layed out like a comic book. It's very easy to navigate and find what you're looking for whether you browse or use the search tool.
With the Article Manager>, I created templates that get used every time I want to add a new comic book to the site. That saves maintenance costs in the long run because it doesn't require any HTML knowledge to keep putting more and more comic books into the database. Just fill in a web-based form correctly and the pages appear on the web site automatically, and they're 100% perfect and complete in every way, including the customized add-to-cart buttons.
The site uses a PayPal shopping cart system to sell the books directly online. But if you feel like putting some of them up on eBay, it's got some hooks built in so that you can let people link directly from here to there too.
I've figured out how to apply shipping and handling fees according to exactly how many comic books a customer puts in their cart. The shipping fees are fair to the customer and they're fair to me because they're usually right on.
PayPal is very nice, but if you're serious about inventory control and back-end accounting then a perfect upgrade to this site would be to hook it up to Oracle Small Business. I've done that for other clients and they love it. It's made fullfilling their orders as easy as Article Manager does for adding site content.
So now I'm looking for a forward-thinking comic book dealer or store owner to buy this design from me.
The work has been done and I'm going to give you a great deal. I've got approximately 80 hours of design and development time invested that I would normally charge $100/hour. That isn't counting the time spent entering in comic book information, because normally I wouldn't do that, you would, and you're going to save money doing it with the Article Manager.
If you don't want to do it yourself, you can hire a teenager to do it for you at a reasonable hourly rate, I'm sure.
So if you like this design and don't want very many modifications to it, then it's a bargain.
I'll transfer the necessary templates and software to your existing web site, or set up a new web site for you. I can provide a great deal on web site hosting if you need it. There are certain minimum requirements necessary to run the Article Manager and do what I've done here on this site.
I'll personalize it with your company information. Of course it won't come with any of my content, it will be an empty vessel ready for you to pour yourself and your business into.
I'll train you on how to use Article Manager and teach you what you need to know about HTML. I'll always provide email and telephone support as necessary to answer any questions.
If you want any serious modifications, enhancements or an upgrade to a different shopping cart system, then I will provide a hefty discount on the first 20 hours of extra development time. Remember, you won't ever need to pay me to update your site's content for you, only if you ever want a serious change to the look-and-feel of the site.
You'll get one copy of the Article Manager worth $300 as a part of this deal. It is the backbone of the whole site.
If you require a second copy for a password-protected administrative area, which I highly recommend for any web site owner, then I'll provide you with one for only $150 extra. Setup costs will apply to get that working to your specific needs, but you can use your highly discounted block of 20 hours for that.
You can have your very own copy of Comics CollectedTM, complete and working on your very own domain, for $2,000.
